We are going to continue to talk about how to increase online sales, but today we will be giving you some tips on how to increase those sales with the use of paid digital marketing. In this video we will be focusing on paid social media advertisements. Social Media paid advertisements are a great way to reach your target market of customers and create brand awareness.
We want to make sure that we note that before you create your paid advertisements, we advise that you have a digital marketing plan and goals for your company. As for social media advertising like we said in our last post, social media is great for making free posts as well as creating paid advertisements. If you would like to see some tips on how to what you can do to increase sales from your free posts, please see our last post.
Now back to the paid social media advertisements. These promotions can be very beneficial to get more reach out of your posts on social media. When we say reach, this is the measurement for the number of users who have seen a particular post or content. This reach is very important to your company’s brand awareness because this is the number of actual people who have seen your post. With our experience in creating paid advertisements on social media, we know that the reach on a paid post is much greater than the reach on a traditional free post.
There are multiple ways that you can create advertisements through social media. For these examples, we will talk directly about Facebook ads, but the other platforms are very similar.

BOOSTED POSTS:
The simplest paid advertisement is a boosted post. Any post can be turned into a boosted post by simply adding an advertising spend to the post you already created. Boosted posts create more reach than your traditional free posts will.
When creating a boosted post, Facebook allows you to decide on your goal for the ad with three options, to 1 get more website visitors, 2 get more engagement, or 3 get more messages. For the purpose of this post on increasing online sales, we suggest selecting “get more website visitors”. Next you can select what type of button you would like on the ad. Again for our purpose, we suggest learn more or shop now.

Next you can narrow down who will see your advertisement by selecting your audience. This is how you create your target market of customers. You can select the age range, gender, and customer location, as well as getting even more detailed with demographics, interests, behaviors and even more. However, please make sure, do not narrow down your target market too small because you will not get enough reach from your advertisements.
Now to the advertising spend. Facebook allows you to create your own budget and duration for the advertisement. You can start by selecting the duration of your ad or the end date you would like. Next you can select the total budget for the advertisement. The really great thing about selecting the budget for your ad is that Facebook provides you with an estimate of the reach you would get with each dollar value. You can also write in any dollar value you would like even if its not listed.

The last thing you are prompted to do is select where you would like your ad to be posted. The options are on Facebook and messenger. We would suggest just to select Facebook, but if you want to also post to messenger that will also work to help bring brand awareness.
PAGE PROMOTIONS:
Another way to create a paid advertisement is to promote your Facebook Page as a whole. This type of add is similar to the boosted post that you can select your content, choose your target market, and selecting your duration and budget.
BENEITS OF BOOSTED POSTS AND PAGE PROMOTIONS:
The great thing about both boosted posts and page promotions is that your advertisements are posted to customers who may not even know they are looking for your product. This may sound confusing, but it is a great benefit to your company.
All we mean by this is that while a potential customer is scrolling through their newsfeed of friends and liked pages, your advertisement will be mixed in with this. So, a customer may not have been directly searching for your product or industry, however, the advertisement is now in front of them and they have the opportunity to learn more or purchase directly at that point. This again is why social media advertising is great for brand awareness.
ADVANCED DIGITAL MARKETING:
As you get more advanced in digital marketing there are numerous other ads that can greatly benefit your sales. An example of this is a Facebook Retartgeting Ads. These ads will show to a group of customers who have interacted with your products on and off Facebook. You can target advertisements to be shown to customers who for example logged onto your website before and now are scrolling through Facebook. Additionally, you can target the customers who added to cart but did not follow through and purchase, or customers who viewed an item on your website and you want to upsell them other products in your product set.
